A journey into the land of operetta - this is one way of describing our trip to the beautiful Salzkammergut lake district. Even Emperor Franz Josef and his family came here for their summer holidays. Salzburg's prince archbishops held lavish hunting trips in the forests around Fuschl. Today, the former hunting lodge in Fuschl is home to a luxury hotel.
St. Gilgen on the Wolgangsee Lake is a picturesque town well worth visiting. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's mother was born here.
